Government Affairs Committee Meeting
Our August Government Affairs Committee Meeting will be receiving an important presentations on construction of the LA Metro Purple Line Subway. Section 1 of the Subway is under construction and will ultimately include a station at Wilshire and La Cienega. The Project is slated to begin "decking" of Wilshire Blvd. this fall, which will include a series of weekend closures of Wilshire Blvd. between La Cienega and San Vicente Blvd. A representative of LA Metro will present the details and our community will have an opportunity to learn more about the construction, ask questions and provide input.
The Government Affairs Committee will also receive an update about Section 2 of the subway which will include a subway stop near Wilshire and Beverly Drive. Section 2 was recently approved for an initial round of utility re-location and additional construction will occur in the months ahead.
We are also pleased to welcome Dave Jones, Insurance Commissioner for the State of California. Commissioner Jones leads the California Department of Insurance and regulates the California insurance market. Insurers collect $289 billion a year in premiums in California, making it the nation's largest insurance market. Commissioner Jones will speak about insurance protection for all Californians focusing on CEOs, VPs, and managers of various businesses.
This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the important issues in our City and region and to provide your input!
