He will highlight eight significant earthquakes in California from 1906 to present day, and what we have learned from them. Mr. Vahdani, P.E. will also discuss the devastating Turkey/Syria earthquake in February 2023, as it is essential to raise awareness and be adequately prepared before we experience a major earthquake in California.

Ali Vahdani, a recognized pioneer in the seismic resiliency industry, has over four decades of experience in the engineering and construction industry.  As President and Chief Executive Officer of Optimum Seismic, Inc. he heads one of California’s leading seismic retrofit companies with more than 3,000 completed projects. Mr. Vahdani graduated from the University of Southern California’s School specializing in Civil Engineering with a Science degree in 1982. He started his professional career in Seismic retrofitting of buildings and bridges.
 
His professional dream is to see all vulnerable buildings and bridges in California seismically retrofitted before the ‘big one’!
